Veena Kutler has over 25 years of investment management experience, including 13 years with T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. where she served as a Vice President and Portfolio Manager. While at T. Rowe Price, she managed a variety of funds and accounts with an aggregate market value of approximately $2 billion, including a mutual fund named by Forbes Magazine on its list of Best Buys during her tenure. In her prior position, Veena was the Assistant Director of Investments of a major Washington DC pension fund where she helped set investment policy and strategy for the $5 billion plan.
Over the last 10 years, Veena has focused on working with individuals and families, and has a particular interest in helping people in transition, including those experiencing loss of a spouse, divorce, job transition, and other changes.
Since 2009, Veena has been repeatedly recognized by the Washingtonian Magazine as a top local financial expert. Along with her Garnet Group colleague, Annette Simon, Veena has launched and authored a popular practice management column for Morningstar Advisor, a respected resource for financial advisors. She is a contributing author of the textbook Pension Fund Investment Management. She is a speaker at investment seminars and has appeared in numerous widely-read publications including the Washington Post, Bloomberg, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, the New York Post, CNBC.com, Washingtonian, and Business Week. Veena served as a trustee of a non-profit foundation.
Veena is a member of several professional societies including the CFA® Institute, the CFA® Society of Washington DC, and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA). She served as President of the Washington DC Metro NAPFA group. She earned an MBA, Finance, from George Washington University, and a BS in computer science from West Virginia University. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®), the premier investment analytic designation.
For more than 20 years, Annette Simon has been helping successful individuals and their families better understand and manage their financial lives.
A leader in the fee-only wealth management field, Annette has been named one of Washingtonian Magazine’s top financial experts each time they have published a list since 1999. She is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor and has held leadership roles at the local, regional and national levels within the organization. Annette served for three years on the national board of directors and for five years on the board of trustees for the NAPFA Consumer Education Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and helping consumers with their financial lives.
Together with her Garnet Group colleague, Veena Kutler, Annette launched a popular monthly practice management column for Morningstar Advisor, a widely read resource for financial advisors. Journalists from a variety of publications including: Business Week, Investor’s Business Daily, Fox Online, Financial Planning, Dow Jones Investment Advisor, the Washington Post, the Baltimore Sun and Consumer Reports have consulted her in preparing articles on financial planning issues. Annette has been heard on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition and Marketplace shows and has appeared on the NBC Nightly News as well as various local news broadcasts. Reuters International asked her to participate in a series of financial planning pieces for local television news stations across the country. She speaks to associations and civic organizations on personal financial planning and related issues.
Annette holds an MBA from Yale University and a BA from Northwestern University. She is married, has three grown children and dedicates much of her free time to volunteering at the Washington Animal Rescue League.
Eliot is the initial point of contact for Garnet Group for all existing clients as well as for all day-to-day business operations. Eliot has over 20 years experience in business leadership and management roles primarily as an IT Director for a business process outsourcing organization at which he served clients in legal and financial services. Eliot holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley. Eliot has been with Garnet Group since 2014.
